Teaching aims

Know the new words in the story.

Try to read and understand the whole story and act.

Learn to read and understand the story by guessing and predicting; learn to cooperate with others.

Try to say love and do things to show love.

Understand the emotion in this story and act it out.

Teaching procedures

1. Enjoy a song TRY EVERYTHING.

T: Why do listen to that song?

S: Read a book about animals

T: And you know the name of that song?  TRY EVERYTHING.

I want you to be relaxed and active. Try to think, try to speak and try to act as much as possible.

2. Talk about favorite animals

T: Which animal do you like? Please talk about your favorite animals with you friends.

S: I like ……

It is ……

It has…… and ……

It likes ……

3. Free talk

T: What animals do I like, can you guess?

S: I think you like……

T: You are so clever. What do you know about the rabbits?

4. Introduce the story

T: Today we are going to read a beautiful story. It is about animals.

  Look at the cover, what is the book about? Can you guess

S:

5. Read P.4-5

Let’s imagine

T: Zoe is a little rabbit. One day she gets away from the zoo.

Why does she get away from the zoo? / Where does she want to go?

S:

T: Let’s go with her and see what happens.

Look! What can you see here?

S:

T: Mommy cat hugs and kisses her babies. What a beautiful and warm scene it is!

  Look at Zoe. Is she happy? What’s the matter with her?

S: I think she is ……

Listen and answer

T: Let’s listen and answer this question.

S: She is lonely.

T: Lonely is a kind of feeling. When you cannot see your family or friends, you are lonely.

Do you sometimes feel lonely? Do you like being lonely?

When you are lonely, what do you want to do?

S……

TI think you can understand that feeling. It is unhappy and sad.

6. P6-13

Listen and answer

T: Zoe wants to find her mum. Who does she meet?

S:

T: Do you want to go with her? And see what animals she meets?

Let’s listen to the story and answer it.

T: Zoe meets a penguin, a zebra, a tortoise and a dog.

T: Now I want you to work in two, read P.4-13 and try to act it vividly.

T: Let’s read P14-20 and try to answer it.

Wow! The bear can do many things for Zoe. I think all of them are about LOVE.

T: Somebody say NO. Somebody say YES! The bear is Zoe’s mum.

Do you like bear mum? Why?

T: The bear is not her real mum. But she loves Zoe and gives Zoe hugs, kisses, and a happy warm family. Zoe and her bear mum also give love to other lonely animals.

What do you know from the story

S:

T: Maybe people are different, but we still can say Love.

Reflection

Little Zoe looking for Mum是一篇关于动物的绘本故事,出现动物较多,描写动物特征的句子多,生词量不大。在阅读过程中,通过图片、多种形式的问题层层推进,帮助学生理解文章, 让学生在生动的故事中体会着兔子和这只熊妈妈的感情,更渲染着大爱和博爱之情。在突破本课情感重点时,引导学生表演give her a hug, start to cry, play with her, cook carrot soup等,学生通过表演理解短语的意思,理解Zoe Bear Mum 的感情,从而理解文章的意义。在阅读接近尾声时,设置开放性问题,包括Does Zoe find her mum? Do you like bear mum? What do you know from the story? 等, 激发学生对故事的思考,并锻炼学生的表达能力。

由于本人水平有限,在本节课的设计和实施上仍有不足之处:

1.为了降低课堂实施难度,选择了五年级学生作为上课对象。鉴于五年级学生的心智水平,绘本内容相对浅显幼稚。

2.在课堂实施过程中,学生自主阅读时间不充分,阅读方式也比较单一。此外,课堂上对情感的渲染和铺垫也不充分,影响学生深层次理解绘本,导致最后学生无法顺利完整表述阅读心得。
