Unit 4 Then and now

(period3 Fun &Cartoon Time )

一、教学内容:

Unit4 Then and now  Sound time, culture time and cartoon time

二、教学目标:

1. 知识目标:能通过教学活动正确运用一般过去时和一般现在时对比介绍今夕。

2. 技能目标

(1)能理解Cartoon time的内容并表演;

(2)能在前两课时的基础上正确并熟练地表达“过去与现在”。

3. 情感目标A

(1)通过本单元学习,培养学生良好地听、说、读习惯,让学生介绍自己今夕的同时体会生活的变化和美好。

(2)引导学生体会Cartoon time 的幽默之处,培养孩子学习英语的兴趣。

三、教学重点:能在前两课时的基础上正确并熟练地表达“过去与现在”。

四、教学难点:

能在前两课时的基础上正确并熟练地表达“过去与现在”。

一、Greeting

Hello, boys and girls. Today we will have the third lesson of U4 Then and Now.

Last two lessons, we learned a lot about changes. Let’s first enjoy a v-log about the changes of our country.

二、Presentation and practice

()Fun time

1.T: Boys and girls, As you see, China has changed a lot.

Do you love the changes? Well, I do.

Because I think She is becoming better and better.

Here, better. Can you read these words, bed water Right. Read after me. Better better.

Our country is becoming better and better. And I think we all love her very much.

2.Well, Our country has changed. She is becoming better. What about the people? Here is a v-log from a little friend of mine .

3.Talk about Alice

T:Boys and girls, now you know. Her name is Alice. She is a student in G6. she can do many things. She listens to teachers carefully in class. She works hard. And the most important is she becomes better and better.

But 13 years ago, she was just a baby. She could only look at her mum. She could laugh and cry.

10 years ago…5 years ago…She had a lot of drawing lessons. So when she was 10, she was good at drawing.

4. Talk about yourself

T:Now you know Alice, Can you say something about her?

Take your time.

Right. I think Alice is a smart girl. She is beautiful. She works hard. She is good at drawing. She becomes better and better.

Alice thinks she becomes better and better. What about you? Can you talk about your changes.

open your English book and use the picture on P40. Please write and talk about your changes.

You will have 1 minute.

1. All right. Have you done? Maybe you can also make a v-log.

() Cartoon Time

T: Well, I’m sure you are all becoming better and better. What about our old friend, Sam and bobby? Let’s watch the cartoon time and find out what they are doing in class?

1. T: Do you have the answer?

Look, Bobby is looking out of the window.

And Sam?  Right Sam and Bobby are talking.

Would you listen and read the story with me? Let’s find out what happened indeed?

2. Listen and read

1) YeahThey are having an English lesson. But Bobby is looking out of the window.

And Miss fox looks ….right…. she looks unhappy. And she asks bobby to listen to her.

Does Bobby listen

2) The lesson goes on. goes on means starts again. We have similar phrases like walk on.

The lesson goes on. But Bobby is still …looking out of the window. He is not listening.

This time Miss Fox asks Bobby a question. What did she ask? “Bobby what day is today?“it’s Wednesday.” Look at Bobby. I think it is an easy question for him. So Miss Fox asks Bobby to spell it. Spell it. We should read like this. Spell it  Did Bobby spell it correctly? Let’s check. Wednesday.

Boys and girls, why does miss fox wants to ask bobby questions?

Yeah, right. Because bobby is still looking out of the window. He is not listening.

3) But since Bobby got the right answers. Will he listen? Let’s go on.

No. Bobby  and Sam are talking . And Miss Fox gets angry.  We can also say get cold. get beautiful.

Miss fox gets angry so she asked Sam to make a sentence with egg. That means use egg  the word to make a sentence.

Does Sam make a sentence with egg? Can you help him?  Right. I ate an egg yesterday.

Boys and girls, Sam does not know how to make a sentence with egg. When Miss Fox asks where’s the egg? He is so confused and upset.  He doesn’t know what to say.

4) But Look at the picture carefully, Who has the idea where the egg is?  Well done. Bobby may have the idea. Let’s see what happened next?

Right. Bobby got the idea. He said the egg was in the cake.

Is it right? Wellit is true that we need eggs to make cakes.

Look at Bobby. He must be very proud of himself. 表情 I am such a clever boy.

But what do you think? Does Miss Fox want the answer like this?

No. She wants sam to make a sentence with the word“egg.”

Look at Miss Fox, I guess she is too angry to say anything.

3. Think and say

OK, boys and girls. We have finished the story. Now can you tell me what did Sam and Bobby do at this English lesson?  For example: Sam and Bobby didn’t listen to Miss Fox.

They should sit well.

They shouldn’t talk in class.

They should look at Miss Fox.

1. Boys and girls, if I were Sam or Bobby I would sit well and listen to the teacher carefully in class. Because now I know it is not easy to be a teacher.

4. Think and say

1) Look at Miss Fox. How is she in this English lesson? Can you say something about her feelings?

2) Right. Maybe she is unhappy/angry/sad/speechless…

5. Listen and repeat

T: Now would you please listen and repeat after the tape. This time pay attention on their emotions and intonation.

三、Consolidation

Boys and girls, looking at Miss fox , if you were Sam and bobby ,would you like to be better?

Now please think about this question: What should we do to be better?

四、Homework

1 Read the cartoon time and tell the story to your parents. Try to think and talk more about the question: What should we do to be better?

【教学反思】

Unit 4 Then and Now

(Period 3 Fun time& Cartoon)

由于课时的划分,本节课的内容相对比较简单。尤其是Cartoon time更是缺乏和单元主题的相关性。因此为了让两个部分顺利的衔连接点,结合单元主题,围绕better and better 这条主线设计课堂教学。首先是延续上节课的变化,让学生欣赏了过去五十年中国各大城市的变化,今昔对比的图片紧扣then and now 的主题。我们的国家在越变越好,那么我们自己呢?通过小女孩Alice v-log,我们看到她从婴儿时期到小学六年级的能力方面的成长.仔细了解了Alicev-log后再结合Fun time的活动,要求学生区说一说自己今昔的对比就容易的多,可说的内容也相对丰富。

不管是国家还是我们自己,通过自身的努力都变得越来越好,那么伴随我们六年英语学习的老朋友SamBobby呢?他们怎么样了?在故事教学的不同阶段要分别关注不同层次的内容,体现故事教学的层次和过程。运用动画,音频以及图片,让学生观察猜测人物的心情,完成对故事内容的解析。

新课程标准要求教师挖掘教材内容,激发学生对故事的兴趣。因此我们要挖掘故事中的矛盾点,从生活经验体会故事人物的情感。因此在cartoon time Bobby上课看窗外,但依然能回答老师的问题。那他会是什么样的心理呢?现实的课堂里有很多这样的情景,学生很容易就能推测故事进展,接下来Bobby还是不会听,他甚至会为自己的小聪明而洋洋得意。同时Sam的表现也是学生们所熟悉的,生活中这样的同学也很常见。所以在朗读指导的时候学生也能很自然地代入角色,把握语音语调和人物情感。与此同时,对老师角色的把握是引导学生换位思考的好时机。我让学生通过图片猜测Miss Fox的心情变化,同时设计问题What should we do to be better?引发学生进一步思考和总结。通过组织形式多样的活动,引导学生推测、关注大意,寻找细节,如此方能逐步培养学生的语篇学习方法,养成良好的学习习惯。

值得反思的是,协调整个单元的内容安排,其实可以把culture time也整合进来,从古至今的各项发明也是世界发展变好的有力证明,完全可以放到这一课时去完成。如果也能减缓一下第四课时的压力。
